This is the apple cinnamon dump cake I make when I need a fast dessert and don’t want to measure much. Canned apple pie filling, dry cake mix, cinnamon, and melted butter. That’s it. If you’ve searched for easy apple dump cake or apple cinnamon cake mix dessert, this is exactly that kind of recipe. Everything goes straight into the pan. No mixer. No bowls to wash.
The bottom turns soft and syrupy from the apples. The top gets buttery and golden. It’s not meant to be neat slices. You scoop it. Best served warm, maybe with ice cream if you have it.
Ingredients
- 2 cans apple pie filling
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Preparation / How to Make It
I spread the apple pie filling evenly in a greased baking dish. Sprinkled the cinnamon right over the apples. Didn’t stir much. Just lightly spread it around.
Poured the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the top. Didn’t mix it in. Left it as a layer.
Drizzled the melted butter across the surface. Tried to cover most of the dry spots. Some patches stay dry and that’s fine.
Baked until the top turned golden brown and the edges were bubbling. The smell tells you when it’s ready.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Soft apples underneath, crisp buttery topping on top. Simple and dependable.
