This is the kind of blueberry dump cake I make when I don’t feel like measuring much. Just blueberries, cake mix, butter, and a little sugar if the berries need it. You literally layer everything in the pan and bake. If you’ve ever searched for easy blueberry dump cake or 4 ingredient blueberry cake mix dessert, this is exactly that. No mixing bowls. No frosting. Just scoop and serve.
The top turns golden and slightly crisp. Underneath stays soft and jammy from the blueberries. It’s more of a spoon dessert than a slice. I usually serve it warm.
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (optional, depending on sweetness of berries)
Preparation / How to Make It
I started by spreading the blueberries evenly in a greased baking dish. If they looked tart, I sprinkled a little sugar over them. Didn’t stir. Just left them in a single layer.
Sprinkled the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the blueberries. Didn’t mix it in. That’s the point.
Drizzled the melted butter all over the top. Tried to cover as much of the dry mix as possible. Some dry spots are fine.
Baked until the top turned golden and the blueberries bubbled up around the edges. The smell tells you when it’s close.
Let it cool a bit before serving. The bottom stays juicy. The top forms a buttery crust. Simple and good.
