Craving some comfort food? Try this crispy golden fried chicken - golden, juicy, and oh-so satisfying. Ideal for a family gathering or a snug evening indoors!

Ingredients:

  • 8 pieces of chicken (legs, thighs, breasts)
  • 2 cups of buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon of hot sauce
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Combine buttermilk and hot sauce in a large bowl, whisking until well blended. Add chicken pieces to ensure they are fully submerged. Cover the mixture and let it marinate in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours, or overnight.
  2. In a large shallow dish, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Remove chicken from buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Coat each piece thoroughly with the flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Fry chicken in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot, for about 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  5. Place fried chicken on a wire rack over a baking sheet to drain excess oil.
