A rich, gooey chocolate dessert with a soft cake top and a molten chocolate sauce underneath. Perfect served warm with ice cream!
Ingredients
For the Batter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Topping
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa powder.
Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
In another bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter (do not mix).
Carefully pour hot water over the top (do not stir).
Bake for 35–40 minutes until the top looks set but the inside is still gooey.
Let cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
